Have you been riden by a witch/hag?  That what grandma nem call it. 

Symntons of being riden:

Your mind is awake, but you are unable to move your limbs.  Anyone looking at you would assume that you are sleep.  Your mind hasn't sent signals to your limbs and you are fighting desperately and mentally to move.  You feel as if you are being held down and something is sitting on your chest crushing you, but you can't move any of your limbs to wake yourself up.  Dat witch is tryin' to kill you and you can't fight back because you can't get your mind and body to cooperate.  If only you could get one of your limbs to move, you'd would wake up.  It's a nightmare....dat witch rode the hell out of me!

Book Buy Selection:  The World & Africa, D.E. B. Dubois

Request:

My goal and objective is to collect 10,000 books by January 31, 2013.  I am requesting that whether  you are or aren't a reader that you buy someone book who is.  Amazon or any other book vendor has this book.  You may simply buy the book and have it forwarded to Mrs. P. Peavy, P.O. Box 11390, Atlanta, GA.  I thank all participants in advance.  I will keep y'all posted quarterly on how many books we've acquired.  I am a history buff.  My goal is to impact some type of knowledge on young minds.  The World and Africa is on my non fiction book list here.

My Story:

A few years back, I was in Lagos, Nigeria, West Africa.  If you don't know about Lagos, you can you tube it and get a feel for the environment and people.  My companion and I were at the market, going from book stall to book stall.  He was a graduate student at one of the universities.  The school was located in Ogun State.  Lagos and Ogun State are located in south west Nigeria and are Yoruba states.  The Yorubas are a ethnic group.   I suggest you you tube the Yorubas too.  Lagos is like the New York city of Nigeria.  It attracts everyone from all over Nigeria and Africa. 

 

Anyway we were in the hot sun going from stall to stall.  He was trying to find a book that was somewhat related to his course.  Now we all know that here in the States when you report for class, the instructor gives you a syllabus, which tells you the book(s) needed for the class.  If you have the money,  just go to the student center to the bookstore and buy the book(s).   Well this type of service is not available in Nigeria.  I was so annoyed.  We in America have free libraries, but we want even go there to read a free book.  I just found there appreciation for books wonderful. 

What the experience did for me was to make this book lover aware that everyone does not have easy access to books. 

The purpose of collecting books is to have a international African book read with African students.  The books will be distributed either to local university and/or high school students.

Again, I will offer my deepest appreciation and thanks for all of those who donated the book.

Undesirable, Losers, & Harry Hippies - Don't Come Heah!

I am by nature a story teller y’all.  Over the last 6 months or so, I have been having similar experiences. This incident occurred on Sunday, March 18, 2012.  I know you must put yourself in places to meet compatible people.  However, this wasn’t something on my mind.  I am just out and about minding my business.  Actually, I was just engrossed reading my book.  When I am like this, everyone just fades into the background.

Anyway, I heard an “excuse me mam.”  So naturally I looked up to see if the voice was addressing me.  Standing before me, pushing a walker (invalid), with a doo rag on his head was a male who had to be at least 10 years my junior and already broke down.  Anyway, to make a long story short, he tried to mack me.  I politely turned him down.  He saunters away, pushes his walker forward out my space.

I swear to you guys I must have something about my look that make these types of males approach me.  Maybe they think that because I am a Black older female, I am pretty desperate and open to their advances.  I guess he figured I make a good nurse to wipe the spittle from his mouth, and change his bed pan.  So now a male in a doo rag and one foot in grave yard thought I might be interested.  It was incredulous and sad and funny all at once.

Pay It Forward - What Is It?

Dear Folks,

In the simpliest terms, pay it forward simply means that if something good has been done or given to you, it is your duty to give the gift to as many people as you can.  Mrs. Patty is asking all who listen to a song, video, and/or read book that you love to tell @ least 20 of your friends, family, and enemies.  My motto is "no good deed goes unrewarded."

Dear Y'all,

I'm eliminating Ethiopia and Kemet(Egypt) from my "before I kicked de bucket list" for  2012.  I am planning on doing a two-three week tour of each country.  I need your help.  I was always told if you want something, just ask.  I would like each person visiting this site to donate $1 to my $10,000 Ethiopia and Kemet fund.   Many of you will never have the opportunity to go to these places.  Why not live vicariously through me. Even though, if you really had the desire to so go, I know you could.  It's all what we set our minds to do and what we value.  My goal and objective is to go to Kemet this summer and Ethiopia in December.  Everybody has a dollar ......right?  If you would like to contribute a dollar to my travel fund please send it via snail mail or paypal.  I will keep you guys posted on the progress.
