L. A. Bank's Vampire Huntress Series

I have known of Mrs. Banks for years.  However, I've never considered reading any of her books.  I was turned off by the covers.  I just figured it was junk writing.  However, in late August 2011, I heard that she had passed.  I was thinking she wasn't that old.  I wondered what happened to her.  So I you tubed her.  I really liked her spirit.  She seemed to have been a very nice, fun, and down to earth woman.  I thought such a pleasant personality and well read woman would not dare write junk.  So I was able to get Awakening which is the 2nd installment of her twelve book Vampire Huntress Series.  I was hooked.  Not only have I read the entire series, I own them all.  They proudly sit on my book shelf.  I know that every few years or so when I need good fiction, I will re-read the series again.

I highly recommend that everyone began with Minion, even though it is not my favorite.  All of her books should be read in order, and I've listed them in order.  She doesn't back track.  She expects you to be up to speed in each book.  If by chance you can't get Minion first, go ahead and read Awakening, but don't go any further until you read Minion.  It is important to get the characters and their stories straight from the get.

I dedicate this thread to the memory of Mrs. Leslie A. Banks and James Brown's song Superbad.  Mrs. Bank's was a Super Bad writer.  Thank you Mrs. Banks for leaving us such a great collection.  Carlos and Damali will live on for many years through thousands of readers.  My only regret is that I did not start reading her sooner.  The good thing is that I don't have to wait for any of the books to be published.  I guess the old saying of "don't judge a book by its's cover " is true in most cases.  It is absolutely true in The Vampire Huntress Series.

In addition, I would like to highly recommend Tony Browder's Nile Valley Contributions.  If you are fortunate enough to get a copy and read it before or along with the Vampire Series you will learn alot. It is written in plain and simple form.  Mrs. Banks brings serveral of the historical and mythological characters to life, i.e. Heru, Aset, Adam, Eve, Nefertiti, Nzingha, Hannibal, etc.  He gives you the low down on these characters.  The book is out of print.  However, it can be purchased used.  It would be wonderful if we could create such a demand for his book, he'd consider reprinting it.

Mission Statement

My mission statement is simply to bring book lovers into my world.

Sankofa - The Movie

The Sankofa bird is an ancient Akan symbol. It means one must return in order to move forward. The bird's body is moving forward, but it turns in head back to look and remember the past. Ms. Bank's uses the image and the symbolism throughtout the entire series. A people who don't know their past, history are lost souls.

Sankofa, the movie, speaks to this very symbolism. I encourage everyone who has not seen the movie to review and give readers a review.

Ausar, Aset, & Heru - The Original Holy Trinity & Other Important Africans

Ausar, Aset & Heru (child) is the original holy trinity. The trinity is based on astronomical mythology. It is purely derived from natural phenoma of the moon, stars, and the sun.  Please no hate mail!!!!  Smilin’.  I’m just de messenger.

The story goes like this.  Ausar(Able) is viciously murdered by his hateful brother Set(Cain) and is cut up into 14 pieces.  Aset is overwhelmed with despair over the death of her beloved husband, Ausar. They were newly wedded and had not consummated their marriage when he was killed. Unfortunately, they were unable to consummate their union and no child had been born to them. Ausar travels throughout Kemet(ancient name for Egypt)  to find the missing pieces of Ausar’s body. She finds them all, except for his penis.

Aset raises Ausar from the dead - resurrection.   Ausar desperately want to get busy with Aset, but his member is missing.   Aset says “baby, don’t worry. I got this.” She turns herself into a bird and hoovers over Ausar and she is spiritual impregnated.  Nine months later, Heru(Jesus), is born of a virgin mother - Immaculate conception.  This story also introduces the original Madonna and child.

The Greeks appropriated these characters and named them Osiris, Isis & Horus.  When the Roman Catholic church got into the act they called them Mary, Joseph & Jesus and humanized these astronomical/mythological characters of the ancient Africans who also gave the world the 365 day calendar.  It took them over 50,000 thousand years of observing the behavior of the stars, moon, and sun to create it.

The Washington monument stands as a symbol of Ausar penis, the Tekken/Obelisks.
You can find this original drama written on Temples in stone in Kemet.
You can listen to the story in more details on you tube:

I love how Mrs. Banks bring these astro/mythical characters to life and make them a part of the spiritual Neteru teams who assist the living Neterus and the Warriors of Light in fighting the Darkness, The Unnamed one and his Minions, The Vampire Council.

She even brings the evil Set (Cain) to life who is at cross road. One of the twelve books features Cain with his fine, dark, beautiful, charming, and conniving self. He is a beautiful sheep in wolf’s clothing.

Nile Valley Contributions - Book - Tony Browder

This book is excellent. Mr. Browder takes advanced and scholarly work and makes its very reader friendly. I would highly recommend that readers of the Vampire Huntress Series read this book before or while you are reading the series. You will be reacquainted or acquainted with the mythological & historical characters. This book was out of print, but luckily, it is back in print. This book is also an excellent read for young adults.

I welcome all reviews on this wonderful book.

Egypt/Ethiopia

Egypt is in Africa Dog Gone It !!! It’s just as African as Nigeria, South Africa, Ghana, Benin, Senegal, etc. The white power structure has purposely and politically attempted to take Egypt out of Africa and say it’s in the Middle East. The goal is deny African people their greatness. If you still have doubts, please take out of a map and study it. Don’t be a dummy. When I hear people of African descent utter this lie, I cringe. It lets me know the mis-education is thorough when the Blacks are repeating the lie. However, I don’t hold a grudge. We tend to believe what we hear over and over. When you are listening to the news watch they will never include Egypt as part of Africa. It will be African and Egypt. The people who reside in Egypt today are the descendants of the various invaders over the last 1000 centuries. If you want to see what a true Egyptian look like you will have to travel south to Nubia/Ethiopia.These are the descendants of these great Africans who introduced the world to Architecture, Science, Philosophy, Religion, Mathematics, Astronomy, Medicine, Pharmacology, Agriculture, Astrology, etc.

My Story

Egypt has always been a part of my consciousness. I have always been fascinated with this North African Country. When I was a child I was fascinated with Greek mythology. You cannot imagine my fury when I learned that there is no such thing as Greek mythology, but stolen African mythology, specifically, Egyptian.  The Greeks were mere Barbarians when the Africans created their sciences, arts, astronomy(the 365 day calendar), agriculture, mathematics, and great myths thousands of years before there was ever was a Greece.

One of my most vivid memories in school is when I had to write a report, and I chose Egypt as my topic. I had to be in 7th grade or so. When I stood up by my chair, to present my hand written presentation, I could not get a word out. I was so nervous. Every eyeball was on me. The teacher had pity on me and asked me gently to have a seat.

Another reason for Egypt being such a part of my consciousness is the church. How could you be a Black American raised in the Black church and have not heard of the Egypt or Ethiopia. We all know of Moses going to Pharaoh and demanding that he let his people go. Of yes, by the way, Moses was a native African. We all know the spiritual, “Go Down Moses.” Kemet (Egypt) is the ancient name, has always been a part of me, fascinating and wonderful.

Now as I said, I was aware of Ethiopia and Kemet (Egypt) before I ever knew that other African countries existed. Though Ethiopia, the Land of the Blacks, did not have the same hold on me as Egypt, it to, has always been in the back of my consciousness waiting to be discovered fully.

Will you believe it when I say that a book I read by accident did it?  Books are beautiful things.  That’s why I love them.  When I read My Soul to Keep by Tananarive Due, Ethiopia was no longer buried in the back of my conscious mind, it moved to the forefront.  Ethiopia is on my “Bucket List”.

Kemet (Egypt) and Ethiopia are really children of Nubia (Sudan). The 1st civilization in the word Ta Seti is the mother of Egypt.  Ta Seti is Nubia.  It came before.

Remember, Egypt is on the African continent. Don't fall for the oki doke.

Minion - The Vampire Huntress Series

Hey Y'all,

Let me first says, I love L.A. Banks Vampire Huntress Series.  But, y’all I committed my 5 star rating in haste.  I actually had read 5 of the other books in the series before I finally received my copy of Minion.  I had not gotten far in my reading when I offered the rating.  I was basing it primarily on the other books that I absolutely loved.

Regrettably, I am going to lower my rating to 3 stars.  The prologue was excellent.  She had me from page 1.  We meet Damali as a crying infant in her mama’s arms.  We don’t meet Damali again until 20 years later.  Her entire life lived and her relationship with Carlos was totally omitted.  Their relationship is the basic for the entire series.  She failed to give a good foundation for the following stories.  I was never clear on their story, even though in other books, she gives some tidbits of how their story came about.
We, the reader, should have met Damali again when she was around 14 or 15 years old.  We should have experienced her time in Foster care.  We should have experienced how she met Carlos and how their friendship evolved.
Mrs. Banks did not do a good job as a writer in setting the story up.  I am glad I read The Awakening first.  I am not sure I would have read it if I had read Minion first.  This would have really been a loss of great reading.

However, in saying this, I beg you guys to read the Vampire Huntress series.  It’s excellent.  It’s basically a love story, but not your typical story by any means.  Mrs. Banks is obviously a history buff and a news junkie.  Her works, though fiction, is substantive.  I am collecting all of her books and they will have the honor of sitting on one of my book shelves.  I know that I will re-read this series over and over again throughout my life times, even Minion.

Minion was the baby and I am giving her leeway.  It is not a bad book at all.  She just doesn’t tell the story fully and well.  It doesn’t matter.  I was hooked once I read the Awakening.

Theme Songs for the Minion:
  • Grand Master Flash - Message
  • Mama Used To Say - Junior

The Awakening - The Vampire Huntress Series *****Stars

Y'all,

I will tell you this was the first book in the Vampire series that I read.  I was absolutely hooked.  The angst and the unfulfilled passion that existed between Damali and Carlos while she was ripening and he was a master vampire had my eyeball clued to the pages. I will not waste time re-hasing the story.  You can visit Amazon for that.  I dislike reviews that gives the entire story away.  I give the Awakening 5 *****stars.

I dedicate the following songs to The Awakening.  You Tube it y'all:

Maggot Brain (Funkadelic)
Cause I Love You (Lenny Williams)
Cold Sweat - James Brown
Super Bad - James Brown
Giving Up - Donny Hathaway
I Can't Get Over You - The Dramatics
Members Only - Bobby Blue Bland
Memories - The Temptations
I Want To Hold Your Hands - Lakeside
Didn't I Blow Your Mind - Delphonics
Fare Ye Well - Aeolians

That Morning Train
I Wanna Ta Ta You Baby
Keep Movin' On - Sam Cooke
I Can't Get Over You - The Dramatics
Only A Look at Jesus - Gospel Gread
He Made A Way Jublilee

The Hunted - The Vampire Huntress Series *****5 Stars

As always, I am not going to write a long review.  You can visit amazon to read lengthy reviews.  I simply loved The Hunted.  I first read this book in September and I have just completed reading it the second time(Dec 1, 2011).  I am re-reading the series.  I am amazed that I am finding pages that I seemed to have missed entirely.  I'm like was I half asleep the first time.  For example, I vaguely remember the Team in Bahia with Kamal and his men, the Wear Humans.   However, I don't recall all of the commotion between Kamal and Shabazz.

Carlos is back from near permanent death.  He and Damali finally consummates their relationship, but all is not well.  Carlo's soul still hangs in the balance, and he is double crossing the Vampire Counsel.  A Wear Demon, has hijacked a synthetic Neteru scent and has Carlos going crazy and kickin' his boo, Damali, to the curve.   Of course he thinks she is a second level vamp.  Damali warns him that the chick is a wear demon.  Vampires are at the top of the food chain and don't mess with wear demons physically.

I dedicate the following songs to the Hunted:

Court of Love - The Unifics
Evelyn Champagne King - Shame(Live Midnight Special)
Evelyn Champagne King - Shame - Live in London 2010
You, Me, & He - Mtume
I Want To Make It With You - Main Ingredient
Love Don't Love NoBody - The Spinners
    It's A Shame (1973- Spinners
And The Beat Goes On - Whispers
I Only Meant to Wet My Feet - Whispers
You Can't Hide Love - Perry & Sanlin
    Hello It's Me 1974 - Isley Brothers

The Bitten - Vampires Huntress Series

I love the Bitten.  Nuff said.

Theme Song (s) for the Bitten:

Winner Takes All - Isley Brothers
I Owe You Something Good - Funkadelics
    Showdown - Isley Brothers
Dells - Oh What A Night (Rare 1969 clip)
She's Bad Mama Jama - Carl Carlton
    Oh Child - New Birth

I Owe You Something Good Lyrics

You came along just in time my love
Self pity had got me down
You saved me from me, and from the bottom of my heart
Baby I owe you something good

    You came (you came)
    And you saw (you saw)
Don't you know that you conquered (conquered) whoa, my heart (my heart)
    Just like the Romans said
To the victors belong, belong, belong the spoils

Unreluctantly I submit. My heart told me that I should
(So) so enriched was my reward
Baby I owe you something good

    I've loved (I've loved) and I've lost (I've lost) but that's alright
I blame, I blame, I blame, (I blame) myself (myself)
While this old heart of mine, Lord, it refuse
To love, to love, to love anyone else

And then you came and rectified
All the love this old heart had been denied
Then you saved me like you said you would
For this, I owe you something good

    Unreluctantly, I submit
My heart told me that I should
Then you came along and saved me like you said you would
For this I owe you something good

    *******

Truer words ever spoken by the character Carlos to Damali:
He turned and leaned against the wall, speaking to the floor.  “You know, they tell young brothers to do the right thing….and yet, the options and results are really fucked up.  Dead or alive, the people who say to do the right  thing have the system rigged so that it’s almost impossible to get your head above water by following their convoluted rules…rules that they never followed until after they’d gotten what they’d wanted.”  He glanced up and held her gaze while speaking in a far-off tone.

“I didn’t have to become a vampire to see.  A blind man could see it.  I may not have been to college, but trust me, I’ve been schooled well.  The powerful still plunder countries, neighborhoods, territories, for what they want to seize --- by force.  Robber barons, imperialists, mobsters turned presidents…then, they go legit.  They’ve only cracked open the door to let a few not like them in, and under very controlled circumstances.  Yeah, I messed up while alive, because I wanted the same power they had.  I wanted the same respect.  For me, then, like now, living or existing without that wasn’t, and isn’t, in my DNA.”

Forbidden - The Vampire Huntress Series

Loneliness - The Vampire Huntress Series

Loneliness ain't no joke y'all! I know as humans we all have bouts with loneliness. It's just a part of the human condition. It's normal. However, sometimes the condition can linger around too long. Have you ever been in a crowd of people and you did not connect with one person and a sense of loneliness just engulfed you and you just wanted to cry? Or have you ever been laying next to your man or woman and you felt like you were alone? You know the worst kind of loneliness is wishing you were alone. Are are you hungry for a real partner and life companion? Are you hungry for like minded people to converse and socialize with? Loneliness comes in many faces?

Or have you ever obseved a couple who seem to really care for each other and have this level of public intimacy and affection and it made you sad because you did not have that in your life? In the L.A. Banks  many of the folks have bouts with loneliness and each deals with it in their own ways.  Also in the movies Anna Lucasta and For the Love of Ivy loneliness is a recurring theme.

    Question of the Day

How do you handle loneliness? What's the most effective remedy for this emotional and pyschological condition?

    The Forsaken -Vampire Huntress Series

The Damned - The Vampire Huntress Series

The Wicked - The Vampire Huntress Series

The Cursed - Vampire Huntress Series

I dedicate the following songs not only to the book The Cursed, but to the Yonnie character.  His dilemma really touched me.

The Love I Never Had - Tavares
How  Do You Mend A Broken Heart - Al Green
I'm So Tired of Being Alone - Al Green
Hangin on A String - Loose Ends
    Me, Myself & I - The Dramatics
Me & Mrs Jones - The Dramatics
I Miss You - Harold Melvin & The Bluenotes
Earth Wind & Fire - Reasons
    I'm Losing You - Temptations
I Know I'm Losing You - Temptation Movie

The Darkness - Vampire Huntress Series

    Y'all,

You all already know by now I love this series.  So I am not going to do any long reviews.  You can visit Amazon and read the reviews if you like.

I will say I absolutely have fallen in love with Yolando (Yonnie).  I love his personality.  He talks some straight bs.  Yonnie has been playing both sides of the fence.  He has been elevated to Master Vampire status, yet he is a double agent.  He's bring the goods (information) to Carlos and the Guardian team.  I really felt sorry for Yonnie.  He is out there by himself really.  Carlos is his only true friend.  Tara has gone back to Ryder and she is no longer his vampire mate.

L.A. Banks re-introduces Val and she is a straight trip.  I love the scenes when she first encounters Yonnie on the beach and his reaction to her.  I also loved the scene when she is eating with the guardian team.  I died laughing.  Humor in a story is a good thing.  Mrs. Banks adds two other characters by bringing in Inez's mama and daughter, and mama is annoying and self-righteous as all get out.  This is what makes these stories so enjoyable to read.  You can relate to the personality types - you know real people.

Lilith and the one not be named is hiding their heir, the Anti-Christ.  Nuit has been brought back to life by Lilith with the permission of her husband.

I have one small issue.  She list and gives props to the greek philosophers, not mentioning that there is no such thing as greek philosophy.  This is why I felt compelled to include in this thread George James' Stolen Legacy.  However, I realize that this could be just stealth on her part.

Theme Song (s) for The Darkness:

Hey Girl (I Like Your Style)  - Temptations
    I Want A Love I Can See - Temptations
Let Me Make Love To You - The O'Jays
We Both Deserve Each Other's Love - LTD - Jeffrey Osborne
Crazy Bout Cha' - Jefferey Osborne
Heaven Must Be Like This - Ohio Players
    Oh Girl - Chi-Lites
    Ooh Child - Stair Steps

The Shadows - Vampire Huntress Series

    Theme Songs:

Give Me Your Love - Curtis Mayfield
I Want You To Want Me - Marvin Gaye

The Thirteenth - The Vampire Huntress Series

Theme Songs (s) for the Thirteenth:

Got the Devil Under My Feet
Old Ship of Zion (Old Camp Meeting Songs)
You Know How To Make Me Feel So Good - Harold Melvin & The Bluenotes

Man Settlin' Sistahs?! Are You A Settler?

    Folks,

    Questions of the Day

Sistahs did you settled on your man so you would not die alone? If so, how far did you marry down and do you have regrets in not marrying your equal? Do you think it's a good idea for a woman who is of a higher class to marry someone who is of lower class? Women generally try to marry up in order to improve their life condition and chances of their children. Did you settle, marry down? Or are you one of those women who say "hell no, I ain't settlin' for Mr. Just Barely Good Enough!" Of course compatibility is very important. What do y'all sayeth?

    ****Note:
Here is a copy of a published letter in the November 2011.
    Dear Mrs. Jamie:
I’d like to thank you for having an accomplished and substantive cover in last month’s (August) issue.  It was a welcome relief.
However, my main reason for writing this letter is to respond to the gentleman, Vincent Alford, who wrote in the September issue regarding comments of Ms. LisaRaye not wanting a brother from the block.  He took issue with her attitude and suggested that she thought she was too good and should help a brotha up by marrying one. Mr. Alford, I’m being as respectful as I can when I say, man, have you ingested a hallucinogen?  Why would she want to burden her life by being some grown man’s mama?  I am sure at this point in her life she wants a man wants a man who can hold his own and has accomplished his own life goals.
These kinds of unhealthy attitudes make it difficult for black women to find real partners instead of “fixer-uppers.”  Why can’t we be treated like other women?  Why is it that often we have to take on both roles, leaving us overworked, overburdened and dissatisfied and most import, mad as hell.  Who protects and loves us?  Who covers our backs?  Isn’t that what the men are supposed to be providers and protectors, not leeches?  Lawdy, what in the world has happened where men expect women to take care of them?  The roles have been reversed.
Not wanting a man from the block has nothing to do with “being too good.”  The odds are that you have outgrown the boy who never left the block and have nothing in common.  Your worldview and experiences have broadened.  It’s about compatibility.  I understand raw physical attraction; however, lust is not enough to sustain a relationship if the other components aren’t there.
The question is if you can’t find a reasonably suitable Black man to marry, should you settle, stay singer, or possibly marry out to get a better deal?  I ‘m just asking.

U.S. Pass Port - Travelin' Shoes

The first step to putting on your travelin’ shoes is to acquire a passport. A passport lasts for 10 years. This simply act will plant in your subconscious mind that you should travel somewhere. What good is there to have a passport if you don’t intend on using it? It’s subliminal messaging.

If you don’t have a passport or never considered obtaining one don’t feel bad. Most Americans have never been out of the country. So you are in good company. I know that most of us come from families who never considered international travel. For some of us going to the next state is a big deal. However, each of us can begin new traditions in our families by showing the way to others. When the folks see you going back and forth, you will naturally influence them, especially the young ones. They are more apt to follow in your footsteps. That is what happened in my family. It can happen in yours too. You have set the standard.

For the Love of Ivy - Vampire Huntress Series

I love this movie. I think what makes me love it is Sidney. I love his dignified, quiet, classy persona. He appeals to me tremendously.

Sidney's character is somewhat shady. However, he isn't all that bad really. He is really pretty decent. He is forced to take out this young woman who is a maid, Ivy. Ivy is lonely and she want to leave her employers and move to the city and meet people (men). She is afraid that another 10 years will pass and she will be alone and still a maid. She wants to better herself by taking a secretarial course. Sidney is a reluctance suitor. Ivy just wants someone to love and Sidney's character is it.

I think many Black women can appreciate and relate to Ivy. Though Sidney's character is a part time hustler and part time business man, he is very gentlemanly, well mannered and respectful.

Man In My Bed, Not Necessarily the Man in My Head

    Hey Y'all,

The man in my bed may not be the man in my head. Fantasizing about a dream lover is natural. It often helps up climb to the mountain and jump off joyfully. Of course you don't want the man in your bed knowing that he may not be the man in your head. After all he is doing all the work, the other man is just a stimulant.

I have quite a few men in my head that have never been in my my bed. I will only name personalities, not men I know personally. I aim to protect the innocent. I will stick with celebrity type characters. I know y'all can relate. Please feel free to name some of your men in your head and not in your bed. Please keep it clean. If you don't, I will simply delete your posts. Thanks y'all for your consideration.

    My Dear Folks,

I think this will be my last rant on the subject of men and the choices available to Black women. I am going to tell you a little story. It happened to me around December 5th, 2011. Now such situations aren’t new to me. However, at this point in my life I expect them to happen less. I know everyone has at least one similar story. So bear with me as I tell y’all about this funny, yet incredulous, annoying short episode of my life.

    My Story

I decided to take a walk in my neighborhood one fine day. It was a cold day. So I was bundled up. As I was a walking, I noticed a neighborhood man approaching me from the other direction. I know he’s a neighbor and the house he lives in. He and I always offer each other a cordial greeting. I don’t know anything about him except he lives in the house with an older woman who I assume is his mother, and that riff raft come in and out of the house. Now this man has to be in his late forties. I don’t believe he works or does anything. I consider them to be trash. However, that doesn’t stop me from being cordial to people unless I feel threatened. Let me also tell y’all that I’ve had to call animal control on these people a number of times. At one point, I could not even walk pass their house without a vicious dog running out into the street. It had gotten so bad that I even stopped speaking to the matriarch of the family. Now that is a big step for me, because I was taught to respect my elders, though I know some people just get old, not wise.

Anyway, let me get back to the story. I just wanted to give y’all a little back story. When the man approached me we greeted each other as usual, then he ask “are you married?” Now this is the first time he said anything else to me. In my head, “I’m like what in the hell does he want to know if I’m married. Certainly he would not think I would entertain associating with a loser like him.” Of course, nothing on my face gave me away. My mama did not raise no fool. I see this man walking about almost every day, and I certainly don’t want to make him an enemy. So I am nice and respectfully say to him “no I am not married”. I continued walking, but he would not give up. Then he had the audacity to say “do you think we can discuss it later?”

You know how you have this “I can’t believe he just asked me if we could discuss it. Discuss the heck what? What in the world would I want to associate with some trash, nothing?” Again, I ain’t no fool. I simply told him as kindly as possible, “thanks, but I think I’ll past.” I kept walking and I continue to see him walking through the neighborhood.

Y’all know in every neighborhood there is always at least one household that is usually headed by an older woman. The family is considered the low life family of the neighborhood, riff raft. The neighborhood I grew up in they were the Simpsons.

    Commentary

Lawd has it gotten so bad for Black women that bums feel safe to approach a woman that obviously is so way out of their class? They are not even in the same school? Has it gotten so bad where losers feel that if you are older, you must be incredibly desperate and might be open to men who have absolutely nothing to offer a quality woman? I guess he figured he had the body parts. There is marrying down, then there is marrrrrrrinnnnnnggggg dowwwwwwn! I would have to be on crack to associate with a man like him.

I was just out done. It was funny, sad, and doggone annoyin’. I just wanna to holla y’all.

    Question of the Day

Have you ever had riff raft and losers to seriously approach you? How did you handle the situation? My sister has a funny story about the man on the bicycle trying to mack her while she was pumping gas for her car, and the garbage man on the back of the truck trying to holla when she was in her drive way. I know some sistahs get mighty desperate and settle for nothings. In my neighborhood, I grew up with the a trash family named the Simpsons. What were the names of the family in your neighborhood? Usually the males in the family knew not to bother you, they usually only messed with their kind. However, in most cases, we were all cordial with each other, but did not associate.

I am also convinced that this is stealth genocide. You may call me conspiracy theorists if you like. There is too much conincindence. If the prime Black women aren't breeding because of lack of partners, what would you call that? I am just asking. The best women aren't having the babies.

Attendum February 11, 2012  - Another Funny, Yet Sad Episode.

Again I walking in the neighborhood, which I do often.  When you walk, you see a lot stuff and become familar with people.  On this day, it was cold.  As I was making the trip back home a car pulled up beside and the window came down.  I recognized the man.  I see him often in the neighborhood.  I have no idea where he lives though.  I don't even know his name.  However, we always greet each other warmly.

Anyway he rolled the window down and told the person he was talking to over the phone to hold on.  Now he did not say hello, or asked me did I need a ride, which I would have declined anyway.  The first thing that came out of his mouth is "do you have 64 cents?"  I did, but I don't give men money and I was annoyed that a grown man would ask me for 64 cents.  It's the principal of it all. He pulled off a little bit and came across someone else he knew and I assumed asked the man for money because they man went into his pockets and handed him something.

This man has to be in his late forties.  He is associated with the Black Muslims in the neighborhood.  There is a mosque.  What is it with grown men asking you for money?

    Sistahs Loved and Adored?! Yes.....Not!

I dedicate the song Wildflower by New Birth to all of my sistahs.  I want everyone to listen several times to this beautiful song.  This song describe many Black women - in the middle of the ocean without a life jacket.

    Question of the Day

Sistahs do you feel loved, supported, adored and protected by our men?  This isn't meant as a man bashing thread.  I just want to know how the average sistah feels.  Please give your view point.

Stolen Legacy - George James - Book

Stolen Legacy is a classic and is indirectly related to some of Mrs. Banks' ideas. However, in the book the Darkest this quote made me see stars.  I suspect that she did not want to offend white readers, and most Black readers don't know history so would not know any better.  I highly recommend Stolen Legacy once you get through the entire series.  Mr. James uses repetition to make the point that there is no such thing as Greek mythology.  It's the Greeks going to Africa, specifically Kemet, and stealing their ideas, Gods, philosphy, arts, and sciences and calling it their own.

If you can read Mrs. Banks, you sure to be able to read Stolen Legacy.

Mama Papa Nem Use To Say

    Question of the Day

Mama, daddy, grandmama, granddaddy, and nem often gave us words of wisdom.  I know I would try to tune them out without them knowing I trying to tune them out.  However, many of those life lessons have served me well as an adult.

    One of my favorites:

Be cordial to all, but associate with few.  In other words, be careful of the company you keep.  These people tell the world who you are.   My grandmama use to say, "if you mess with trash, trash gets into your eyes."  What are some of your mama nem life lessons they imparted upon you?

    Dumb Muthas........!!!

    Dear Folks,

Have you had anyone every insult but was too stupid to know it.  This mutha said to me "you speak very well."  I wanted to say in return "kiss where the sun don't shine."  However, be a well raised woman, I just smiled and said "thank you."  I know the mutha thought he was giving me a compliment.

    Question of the Day

What kind of stupid comments and questions have muthas thrown your way?  How did you handle the situation?
